This weeks photo of the week takes us to Steeles Avenue East and Don Mills Road with TTC Orion 7 Hybrid 1112 on Route 53 Steeles East DRT Routes 301 West Lynde/Otter Creek, 302 Brock/Brooklin, 303 Garden, 304 Anderson, 305 Thickson & Garrard 308 Whitby Shores 318 Otter Creek/Garden/Whitby Shores and 922 Bloor Victora also come here. GO Transit Routes 96 Oshawa Finch Express, 81 Port Perry-Whitby also come here including the 90 Lakeshore East bus when the trains aren’t running. Whitby GO Station itself connects riders to the GO Lakeshore line to either Oshawa GO Station to the east or Union Station in Toronto to the west. 407 Ritson/Colonel Sam 409 Thornton/Stevenson410 Olive/Harmony, 411 Grandview, 412 Adelaide and 910 Campus Connect/Whitby Station among others including Route 302 Baldwin Brock as seen below. The buses can be can be found on Routes 401/B/C Simcoe, 402 King. The buses are primarily based out of Raleigh Division in Oshawa and Wentworth Division in Whitby. This model numbered from 8566-85 Nova LFS buses that were acquired between December 2017 and March 2018. This Weeks Photo of the week takes us to Whitby GO Station in Durham Region one of the photo stops on the Toronto Transportation Society’s 2018 Transportation Weekend. Upon entering service they replaced Daimler Chrysler Commercial North America SLF 200 buses 201-223 (Now Vanhool AG300 Buses) and Orion Vs 20. They can be found on YRT Routes 1 Highway 7, 2 Milliken, 3 Thornhill, 4/4A Major Mackenzie, 5 Clark, 7 Martin Grove, 8 Kennedy, 9 9th Line, 10 Woodbridge, 12 Pine Valley, 13 Islington, 14 14th Ave, 107/107B Keele, (Formerly TTC Branches 107C and B Keele North) 165/165F Weston, (Formerly TTC 165 Branches D and F Weston Road North) 300 Business Express, 301 Markham Express, 302 Unionville Express, 303 Bur Oak Express, 304 Mount Joy Express, and the 200 series Markham and Richmond Hill GO Shuttles as well as the 400 series school special routes among others. The vehicles however are built with an auxiliary heater that keeps the urea from freezing outdoors when the temperatures drop. Miller division meanwhile only has a limited indoor storage space hence why they only have units 1020-1030. The buses are stored indoors at night to stop the urea inside the diesel fuel from freezing, which is why YRT’s Veolia division received the bulk of the buses. They have the same features of D40lfs 901-9-1019 although the Air Condition unit is on the roof and there is an extra stop request sign in front of it due to the front stop requested sign being covered by the unit. This model numbered from 1020-1038 were acquired by YRT in 2010 after the D40lf model was discontinued.
